TONS OF UPDATES

We have really been slacking off on updating the blog. But we haven't been slacking off on adding and updating new content! Because the last time we updated material was in April, and its now September, we have have a huge list below! We'll split this into several blog posts so its not too overwhelming. And we'll be better about updating in the future.

We'll post an update on the following topics:

- Updated Minerals

- New Minerals

- New Gemstones

- New Photos

- Animated 3D crystal illustrations

Advanced Filter

The mineral page now allows you to select multiple items in the dropdown filter. For example, you can now sort for all minerals between hardness 5 and 6 with a white streak and hexagonal crystal.

Sorting by Dana Order

We are currently working on allowing the system to sort minerals under chemical group by the Dana mineral order. We did this to keep in sync with all other mineral guides that organize this way.

John Betts Mineral Museum - What a Tool!

John Betts has added an awesome new tool to his website. Basically all his 40,000 or so mineral photos are now online and catalogued and searchable in a database! You can see it here at http://www.johnbetts-fineminerals.com/museum.htm. This tool has been very invaluable to us here at minerals.net as it gives us the ability to choose from so many more new pictures for each mineral. We once again gratefully thank John for allowing us to use his excellent mineral photos.

We have added new additional photos to the following minerals so far:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Copper
  • Platinum
